Pearl Channels

Off-chain PRL payment channels — the switchboard desk

Open a channel

Lock PRL into a 2-of-2 Taproot output shared with one counterparty. Pearl has no smart contracts, so the channel is pure script: both of you must sign to move the funds — on-chain via a cooperative close, or off-chain by exchanging signed commitment transactions that either of you can broadcast. Your money, your keys, no custodian.

Fund the channel

Send your capacity to the channel address in one transaction. The fee comes from your wallet, not the channel — commitment balances always sum to the full capacity.

Channel state

Each payment is a new state: both balances, a fresh pair of commitment transactions, and revoked old secrets. Propose a payment, sign your copies, exchange with your peer (export / import below), then revoke the old state. The latest fully-signed state is the truth.

History

Close the channel

Two ways out. Cooperative needs both signatures but settles immediately. Unilateral needs only you: broadcast your latest fully-signed commitment, wait out the CSV delay, then claim your output. Never broadcast an old state — your peer holds the revocation secret.

Cooperative close

Immediate outputs to both payout addresses. Fee split equally.

Unilateral close

Broadcast your latest commitment, then claim after the CSV delay.

Penalty claim — revoked state

If your peer broadcasts a revoked state, sweep their entire to_local output at once via the penalty leaf — no CSV wait. You need the revocation secret they revealed for that state (recorded in the State step).

Track the channel

GET-only Blockbook reads. Nothing here can move funds.

This page is not a watchtower: it only checks when you ask. If you go offline with an open channel, your peer could broadcast a revoked state. For always-on monitoring, use Pearl Watch on the funding and commitment txids.

Verify

Standalone verifier. Paste a channel descriptor and any signed channel transaction — every signature is re-checked, outputs are matched against the expected state, and the verdict is PROVEN or NOT PROVEN with reasons. No keys needed.
